The employees of a bank can be categorized under various names such as clerk, Grade I officer, Grade II officer and manager. A manger looks after a lot of duties which includes responsibility for profit, resource management, strategic planning and lots more. He should be well aware of the market and think up of various policies and schemes so that customers are attracted to invest in the particular bank. He also needs to interact with customers and convince them with the various banking transaction schemes.

As more and more banks are becoming computerized over the last few years, being the manager of a bank, he also needs to be computer savvy. On the other hand, a clerk is the person who is involved in banking operations such as keeping record of accounts, loans, mortgages and providing services like payrolls and inventory accounting to the customers. Apart from these posts, there are small posts such as secretary, typists, receptionists, safe deposit attendant, file clerk, messenger, runner and more.

In small banks, there are rotation of jobs among employees where as in big banking institutes, each department has specialized employees. Before an employee starts working in a bank, he needs to go through a lot of proper training. To build a profession in banking, a person needs to pass through the banking test that has some terms and condition. The basic rule of banking career regarding education is that the person must be minimum graduate. He can be a post graduate, CA, MBA also within the age group of 21 to 26 years.

To get a job in banking, the candidate must sit for the banking test that comprises of three tests and the examination parts are divided as follows:

Paper I is a written test comprising of General Mental Ability (Objective type).

Paper II is a subjective one which has English Essays/Comprehension/Precise writing etc.

Paper III is on Economics and Social problems

The candidate is tested in logical reasoning, mental ability, numerical aptitude and general English. The banking career process differs in private and public banks. While in public sector banks, you have to sit for a certain test on certain schedule, private banks are free of these. You can approach a private bank anytime according to the vacancies available.
