In some companies people working in lower posts who are not going to deal with the clients are allowed to wear informal clothes. Professionals and other high status workers are directed to wear plain patterned or pinstripe suits in navy, charcoal or Grey suits with a tie and belts.

There are various business companies which also observe anti-discrimination laws which restricts them in determining what is appropriate and inappropriate workplace clothing. But in most businesses have all the authority in determining as well as establishing the corporate wear for the workers. It is also noted that if a dress code is carefully designed then it does not violate anti-discrimination laws.

Business casual has also become one of the major part of the corporate wear. These are also known as "smart casual". This has become very popular and has also become a part of the all white-collar workplaces in Western countries during the 1990s. This was especially in the United States. This dress code has also become a major part of all the Information technology as well. The formal corporate wear or business wear means suits and neckties but the business casuals on the other hand has no such definition. It is interpretation differs according to the organizations and can also cause sartorial confusion among workers.
