You just can't prosecute a living being only because it is not human. Well this is what Animal Rights activists say. And not only the activists but we all should also believe in this. The dogs are the best companions of men from the age old times when we were still in the stone ages. Well if this is the case then why in most developing countries the dogs are prosecuted so often.

There are thousands of stray dogs roaming about in the city streets that have no shelter and are going hungry for days at a stretch. We had once brought them from the wild to absorb them in our society for our own protection and needs. Then why are most of us indifferent toward their fate? Why do we leave them in the streets to die out of hunger, in their eternal struggle for existence?

Nowadays the awareness for considering the basic rights for animals are coming into the minds of the common people. The progress is too slow but still it is really a positive thing in this millennium that many Animal Rights activists are trying to uphold the laws of protecting the rights of animals and supporting their stand against torture, persecution and unwanted seclusion.

The rights for both the domestic and the wild animals are looked after by separate bodies of animal activists in almost all the developing countries of the world. Certain rights are there for the domestic animals like cats, dogs and cattle who are in close communion with the human society. In most cases these poor creatures are exploited to the level of extermination by the so called civilized human society with labor unimaginably hard to bear.

Most of the dog pounds around the world are into secret persecution of the stray dogs that find some kind of shelter there. The governments in almost all the developing countries around the world have joined hands, thanks to the awareness spread by the Animal Rights activists, to look into these shelters and find out keys to eradicate the issues of cruelty to animals.

There have been similar questions of animal liberation raised against the exhibition of animals like dogs, monkeys, birds and even wild animals like lions, tigers and elephants in circus, carnivals and other public performances. The matter is serious because you can't really force a life form to perform something for your own entertainment against it's wish. This kind of torture and persecution of animals have already been looked down by the governments of most developing countries and the display of forced animal acts for public entertainment has officially been prohibited.

A major issue raised by Animal Rights activists is to stop the slaughter of animals for the sake medicinal research. Each year with advances in medical research almost millions of rats, rabbits, hamsters and monkeys get killed. This is really an inhuman act that according to the animal lovers brings out the cruel animal hidden in humans.
