MoD Police officers are a part of Ministry of Defence of the UK. MoD police officers are a specialist group of police officers who operates in the United Kingdom. The MOD police officers are also known as Ministry of Defence Police or MDP.
The MOD police officers enforces its constabulary powers to fight the main risks of crime and disorder which is faced by the Ministry of Defense (MOD) in the UK. They are mainly a civil police force and not a military force. The powers enjoyed by the MOD police officers are similar to that of any other police constables and are deployed all over the country. The police force is owned by the Ministry of Defense. This police force is available in the UK along with regional and country force. The MOD police force operates nationally across all the five geographic divisions. These police officers nearly serves 100 MOD units and organizations.
The MoD police officers or MDP are specialized in armed security. Almost 70% of the MOD force is used daily on armed duties.
The armed duties also include giving protection to the United Kingdom's nuclear deterrent.

MDP officers need to have certain skills and personal qualities. The first and foremost requirement that you need to have is good communication skills. You also need to be confident and self disciplined. You also need to have the capability to make clear and fast judgment and must haver the ability to handle immense pressure. Training program of MOD police officers:
The probationary officers training is for two years. It includes several steps. A training program is held for 14 weeks. It is a residential induction program which is usually held at MDP Wethersfield center. The probationary officers are trained in a classroom and they need to undertake practical and written examinations to prove their understanding of criminal and legislation law. They also need to show their understanding of MDP policies and procedures. Fireman's training course is also included. The final step include one week training at a local unit.
