MDP officers should be keen in serving and protecting the country. They should also uphold law and order. They should also have the interest to travel and need to interact with different kinds of people from different backgrounds.

Training program of MOD police officers: The probationary officers training is for two years. It includes several steps. A training program is held for 14 weeks. It is a residential induction program which is usually held at MDP Wethersfield center. The probationary officers are trained in a classroom and they need to undertake practical and written examinations to prove their understanding of criminal and legislation law. They also need to show their understanding of MDP policies and procedures. Fireman's training course is also included. The final step include one week training at a local unit.
