Mexico

Located in the continent of North America the country of Mexico is known for its ancient civilizations and mouth watering delicacies. To the north of Mexico lies the United States of America and to its south east lies the tiny country of Guatemala. Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean sea, Mexico is home to some of the most scintillating beaches of the world. Moreover, the country is also home to a whole lot of nature reserves and national parks. The land area occupied by Mexico is almost 2 million square kilometer. This makes Mexico the 14th largest country in the world. With the deserts in the north and some forests in the southern part of the country, majority of the population in Mexico reside in the coastal regions and in the central plain land. The country of Mexico remained under the rule of the Spanish colonial powers for a long time. The struggle of independence in Mexico continued for quite some time, before the land was declared independent. Named after its capital city, today, Mexico is one of the most favorite destinations of a lot of tourists across the world. Home to the ancient Aztech civilization, Mexico is imbued with a rich history of its own. Latest excavations by historians and archaeologists reveal that the land of Mexico was subjected to a highly developed human civilization, almost 12, 500 years ago.

With the Spanish take over, much of the remains of the ancient civilization of Mexico was destroyed for ever. The colonial started an era of exploitation and hardship for the residents of Mexico. The free country of Mexico postulated its first constitution in the year 1917. According to this constitution, Mexico is a democracy that believes in a representative form of government. That is during every general election in Mexico, all the citizens participate to choose their representatives for the House of congress.
The Legislative wing of the government at Mexico is a bicameral house. That is Mexico maintains an upper house and lower house of elected representatives, much like the democratic system of USA. The President of Mexico is the head of the state. He is not only the spokesperson of Mexico to the world, but also the major decision maker in the country. He appoints all the ministers of the cabinet who occupy the house of congress.
All such appointments are done in consultation with the house of the Senate. The house of the senate and the house of the congress together form the Executive wing of the government of Mexico.

The Judicial wing of the government of Mexico, is headed by the supreme court of the state. Studded with judges and important judiciary officials, Mexico Judiciary tries to keep the system as transparent as possible. The Judiciary alone has the right to interpret and protect the rights postulated in the constitution of the country. The judges of the supreme court along with all the other judges of the lower courts spread all across Mexico are appointed by the the President of Mexico with the prior approval of the Senate.
