The city of Caracas in Venezuela is having two easily identifiable sections which are the new and the old. The Old City of Caracas date back to colonial periods and the nucleus is Plaza Bolivar which preserves a statue of the hero riding a horse dating back to the year, 1874. Almost all the historical buildings and monuments in Caracas go around the Bolivar. The Cathedral appears over the Plaza and it keeps the Bolivar family chapel.

Museo Bolivariano demonstrates memoirs of the portraits and weapons dating back to the movement of independence. Cuadra Bolivar is the child hood home of the hero from among a list of a number of homes. One of the major tourist attractions in Venezuela is the Iglesia de San Francisco. It is one of the finest resting places of Bolivar and is reputed for its gilded altarpieces.
