The ship was later renamed as SATS General Botha and was introduced in the South African Navy where it served as a training vessel. SAS Mendi F148 was among the last four warships that were introduced in South Africa. This ship got its name after one of the most famous South African battle. The ship sunk during the World War I in the English Channel.
